This page takes you from zero to a live automated trade on a simulated account: create your account, install the Chrome extension and the NinjaTrader 8 add-on, activate your license, fire your first TradingView alert, and get the mobile app. About 15 minutes, no coding.
Everything here is in beta. It's working in production and people are
trading on it daily — but you may hit rough edges, and features are still landing.
If something looks wrong, tell us: support@ninja-view.com. Fast replies, real fixes.
What NinjaView does, in one sentence
When a TradingView alert fires, NinjaView delivers it into
NinjaTrader 8, which places the trade on your account.
You never give us your TradingView or broker password — your TradingView login stays in your
browser, your broker login stays inside NinjaTrader 8. We just connect the two.

Get paid to share it — 20% affiliate programme
Every account has a referral code built in. Anyone
who signs up through your link earns you 20% of what they pay —
not once, on their payment. There is nothing to apply for.
Open Dashboard → Referrals. Your code is created the first time
you open that panel — something like TRADER1A2B.
Share your link — https://ninja-view.com/?ref=YOURCODE. Use
Copy Link in the panel. If someone lands on the site through it, the code is remembered
and filled in for them automatically at signup.
Connect Stripe to get paid. In the same panel, click the Stripe button once and
complete the short Stripe onboarding. Commissions then transfer to you automatically when the
person you referred pays.
You can share your link before connecting Stripe
— commissions are held on your account, not lost, and pay out once you connect.
Watch it in the panel — referrals, pending and credited commissions, and total
earnings are all listed there.
Your API key (Dashboard → Webhook Setup) is what the extension and the
downloads use to identify you. It is not your license — licensing is by Machine ID
(Step 5).
2
NinjaTrader 8 + Chrome
Install and open NinjaTrader 8. Connect it to the simulated feed:
Control Center → Connections → Simulated Data Feed → Connect.
Then open an NQ chart so the instrument exists.
We do the whole walkthrough on
Sim101 so nothing can touch real money until you're ready.
Install Google Chrome if you don't have it — the extension loads there.
3
Chrome extension (Developer mode)
The extension isn't on the Chrome Web Store yet, so it loads
unpacked in Developer mode. That's normal and takes about a minute.
Download and unzip — Dashboard → Downloads →
Chrome Extension. Unzip it to a folder you'll keep
(e.g. Documents\NinjaView-Ext). Chrome loads it from that folder every launch
— if you delete or move it, the extension breaks.
Open the extensions page — Chrome won't open this from a link, so paste it into
the address bar: chrome://extensions
Turn on Developer mode — the toggle at the top right.
Load unpacked — click Load unpacked, select the unzipped folder
(the folder itself, not the .zip). NinjaView Bridge appears. Pin it: puzzle-piece icon
→ pin.
Connect it to your account — click the icon → Sign in with Google
(or paste your API key). A green banner confirms it. Reopen the popup; it should read
Connected with your tier.
The usual mistake: selecting the .zip instead of the
unzipped folder. Chrome needs the folder.
If you paste your API key by hand: on the dashboard the key is masked as
•••• — click Show first, then Copy. Copying the
masked value is a surprisingly common dead end, and it fails silently.
Your API key is not your licence. The key is what forwards your alerts; licensing is
tied to this computer's Machine ID (Step 5). They are two different things.
On the trial and on Standard you use the Basic
add-on. The Pro add-on unlocks when you move to Pro or Lifetime.
Get the Easy Installer (recommended) —
download NinjaViewBasicSetup.exe. Run it; it places everything for you and
drops the add-on zip on your Desktop. No admin rights needed.
If Windows SmartScreen warns, click
More info → Run anyway — it's an unsigned installer, not a threat.
Import it — NinjaTrader 8 → Tools → Import → NinjaScript Add-On…
→ pick the zip the installer left on your Desktop → restart NinjaTrader.
Open the window — Control Center → New → TradeSync NinjaView.
It opens reading DISCONNECTED / Webhook Inactive — correct for now;
Step 6 connects it.
On Pro or Lifetime already? Your add-on is in your account instead
— Dashboard → Downloads → NT8 Add-On, where the card will
read Pro. That's Pro v3.0.1, which skips ngrok entirely. Only run one add-on at a
time; both bind port 5001.
5
Activate this computer
There's no license key to type.
Activation ties this computer to your account by its Machine ID.
Find your Machine ID — it's shown right in the
TradeSync NinjaView window.
Activate it — in your dashboard, open the
Licenses panel, paste the Machine ID, click Activate this computer.
You'll see License activated. Restart NinjaTrader.
Can't find the panel? Email your Machine ID to
support@ninja-view.com and our licence bot binds it automatically
(it checks every few minutes).
Seats: Lifetime covers 2 computers; monthly plans cover 1.
6
Connect the add-on — the important part
This is where almost everyone gets stuck, so do it exactly
in this order. In the TradeSync NinjaView window:
Mode → Localhost (Chrome Extension). That's the path the browser
extension talks to.
Account → Sim101. The NinjaTrader account orders go to. Keep it on
Sim101 until the whole chain fires cleanly.
Auto-Trade → tick it on. If this is unchecked, alerts are only
logged and no order is placed.
Alert Filter → clear the box, leave it empty. It ships defaulted to
4NV, which makes the add-on ignore every alert that doesn't contain
“4NV”. Empty means accept everything — simplest for your first test.
Default Instrument / Qty → e.g. NQ 12-26 and 1.
Used only when an alert leaves them out.
Click CONNECT. The bar should turn GREEN —
CONNECTED and the log should read
Listening on http://localhost:5001/
Two things that trip people up. There is no “Start Hook” or
“Start Listener” button — older guides mention one; CONNECT is what starts the
listener. And if the bar is not green, the extension cannot reach NinjaTrader and you'll see
“failed to fetch” in the popup.
Now back in the extension popup, set NT8 URLhttp://localhost:5001/ (it must match), AccountSim101,
TickerNQ 12-26, Qty1. Click Ping NT8 — it should
read OK – NT8 reachable. Then Test Buy should fill a 1-lot on Sim101.
If you see “Cannot bind port 5001”: something else holds the
port — usually another NinjaView add-on, or a leftover NinjaTrader process after a force-quit.
Close the other add-on, or fully exit NinjaTrader and reopen. You can also change the port, as
long as you change it in the extension to match.
7
Fire a real TradingView alert
Log into TradingView in this same Chrome window and refresh the chart tab.
The extension reads alerts from your logged-in TradingView session, so that tab needs to stay
open and be refreshed once to start capture.
Create an alert set to Once Per Bar Close, and make the alert
message exactly this (swap the ticker for the current front month):
When it triggers: a 1-lot
market BUY fills on Sim101, the add-on log shows [ORDER] … NQ 12-26 x1, and the
trade appears on your dashboard under Overview and Trade Log.
More payloads — verb
wording and capitalisation don't matter:
The ticker must be the live front month (e.g. NQ 12-26).
An expired contract will never fill, and that's the single most common
“it didn't work”.
Don't hand-write the JSON — build it. Our
Payload Generator lets you pick the order type, account, ticker and quantity,
then gives you the exact alert message to paste into TradingView. It also sends a test payload
straight to your add-on, so you can prove the connection works without waiting for a real
alert to fire. If the test lands but your TradingView alert doesn't, the problem is in Step 7
— not in your setup.
Full payload reference — every order type and field — is in
the help wiki.
✓ That's it — TradingView → NinjaView → NinjaTrader 8 is live.
NinjaTrader shows the fill on Sim101, and your dashboard
(Overview and Trade Log) reflects the activity.
From here every alert you fire on that TradingView account is traded automatically.
When you're ready for real money: change the
account field in your alert message from Sim101 to your live
account name, and set Account in the add-on to match. Nothing else changes —
that one word is the only difference between simulated and live. Take your time;
there is no rush, and Sim101 costs you nothing.
8
The mobile app
Your dashboard on your phone — P&L, win rate, trade
log, analytics, equity curve, licence, and the AI support assistant. Sign in with the
same account as the website.
Allow “install unknown apps” — Android asks once, for that browser
only. This is because we're not on the Play Store yet.
Open ninjaview-mobile.apk → Install, then sign in with your
NinjaView email and password.
Automated execution still runs through the add-on on your PC. The app is
for monitoring and support — your computer stays the thing that places trades.
iOS is in progress and will arrive via TestFlight, then the App Store.
Play Store listing is in the works too; until then this direct download is the way.
9
If something doesn't work
Symptom
Cause
Fix
“Failed to fetch” in the extension
The add-on isn't listening — wrong Mode, or you never clicked CONNECT
Step 6: Mode = Localhost, click CONNECT, confirm the bar is green
Test Buy or the alert does nothing
The 4NV Alert Filter is skipping it, or Account/Ticker are blank
Clear the filter (or tag your alert “4NV”), and fill Account + Ticker
Alert appears in the log but no order
Auto-Trade is unchecked
Tick Auto-Trade in the add-on window
Can't find “Start Listener” / “Start Hook”
It doesn't exist any more
CONNECT is the start button
Bar stays red: “Cannot bind port 5001”
Another add-on or a zombie NinjaTrader process holds the port
Run only one add-on; fully exit NinjaTrader and reopen, or change the port in both
places
Order fills but nothing on the dashboard
The extension isn't signed in
Extension popup → Sign in with Google; confirm it reads Connected
Dashboard or extension shows “Free”
Entitlement cached from before your access was set
Sign out and back in on the extension. Still wrong → email us, we fix it
same-day
Add-on missing from the New menu
NinjaTrader wasn't restarted after the import
Fully exit and reopen NT8. Still missing → Control Center → Log will
show the import error
“Machine not authorized”
Activation hasn't been picked up by the running instance
Activate in the dashboard, then restart NinjaTrader — it reads the licence
at startup
Order rejected: contract
Ticker isn't a numbered, current front-month contract
Use the numbered form (e.g. NQ 12-26), never a bare symbol, and check the
month hasn't rolled
Extension won't connect at all
The .zip was loaded instead of the unzipped folder, or Developer mode is off
Step 3: Developer mode ON, Load unpacked, select the folder
Add-on never says “Listening on 5001”
Mode isn't set to Localhost before connecting
Mode = Localhost (Chrome Extension), then CONNECT; restart NT8 if it
still won't bind
Alert never fires at all
TradingView tab wasn't refreshed after loading the extension
Refresh the logged-in TradingView chart tab to start capture
Still stuck? The help wiki has the
full troubleshooting tree and an AI assistant that can escalate straight to a human — or just
email support@ninja-view.com — a real person reads it.
Or ask the room. There are
260+ NinjaView traders in our Discord — most setup questions get
answered there in minutes, often by someone who hit the same thing last week.
This is beta, and the most valuable thing you can send us
isn't a bug report — it's the place the instructions stopped matching your screen.
A one-line reply to support@ninja-view.com covering any of these is plenty:
Which steps worked first try, which needed a retry, and which failed outright
(a screenshot of the failure beats any description).
Anywhere this page didn't match what you actually saw — a renamed button, a
different menu path, a version number that didn't line up.
Anything you think a less technical customer would get stuck on. If you hesitated,
someone else will stop.
How long the whole thing took you, start to finish.
Or just say it in the room. The Discord is
where most of this lands fastest, and someone else has usually hit the same thing.
